Mark Paul Deren, aka MADSTEEZ, is known for his vivid, large-scale, multi-layered paintings and murals, where strange and familiar figures are integrated into abstract landscapes. His artistic approach is influenced by being peculiarly blind in one eye, where he sees only abstractions and lines of colour, most notably reds, purples, and oranges, which appear frequently in his work.

“Everything I create, I first and foremost create for myself,” says Madsteez. “And it’s so wild to step back and look at something that may have just been a white wall before and I can transform worlds by what I can do. And that is so wild and I get super excited every time that happens.”

Currently based in Brooklyn, New York, his doodles and larger-than-life pop-soaked paintings, portraits & multi-layered massive-scale murals have granted him worldwide appreciation. By combining the best street art and studio work he has held solo exhibitions in New York City, Los Angeles, and Tokyo as well as group showings in London, Germany, Portland, Vancouver and Art Basel, Miami. Deren has been featured in renowned publications like The New York Times and Dazed and Confused, with commissions coming from Nike, Mini Cooper, De La Barracuda, Target, Stussy, and many more.
