Invader

Invader

Invader is a French street artist known for his distinctive pixelated mosaics inspired by 1980s video games, particularly Space Invaders. Since 1998, he has been developing his large-scale project, Space Invaders, which he describes as a form of “liberating Art” from the confines of museums and galleries. By placing ceramic tile mosaics in public urban spaces, he brings digital, video game-inspired imagery into the physical world, transforming cities into open-air galleries.

Operating under a pseudonym and always wearing a mask, Invader remains anonymous while expanding his global installation. His invasions are strategic, with each city receiving between 20 and 50 pieces, and he often returns for multiple “invasion waves.” Over time, his style has evolved, incorporating not only pixelated aliens but also iconic pop culture figures like the Pink Panther and Mona Lisa.

Invader’s work blends street art, contemporary art, and urban intervention, creating a unique fusion of culture, technology, and urban space. Though rooted in video game nostalgia, his art continually evolves, leaving a lasting impact on cities worldwide.
