The piece is simply about the “Mind’s Eye” or the “Third Eye” as it is sometimes called… It is about looking at everything that surrounds us in a more enlightened, informed, or critical way… In life, we find that there is always more to the story than what something appears to look like. “Eye Of Life” refers to the way in which we should be experiencing the world around us. Looking at everything in an aesthetic way, but also looking at everything with our mind, and perhaps questioning what it may or may not be that we are experiencing or seeing… It is about being ultra present in all of our experiences as well.

Andrew Schoultz

Born in 1975 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Andrew Schoultz currently lives and works in Los Angeles, California. He is a full-time artist, whose fame makes him travelling all around United States and overseas for exhibitions in museums and galleries. He also makes large-scale public murals artworks, which can be seen worldwide, from Los Angeles to Jakarta, via San Francisco, Portland, Miami, and Manila.

He doesn’t consider himself as part of an artistic movement. He does what comes naturally, without knowing in advance what will be the final result. When he starts painting, he keeps letting working and speaking his spontaneity. Inspired by the archaic illustrations of Nuremberg Chronicles of 1492, German map making and Persians miniature paintings, Andrew Schoultz’s artworks refer to themes, such as war, corruption, environmental issues, globalization and economic crisis. Although his work varies in form and sizes, from large-scale installations and murals paintings to works on paper and sculptures, they all are deeply chaotic both visually and thematically.
